Rose Hip Tallow Cream

from $25.00

My family gathers these rose hips from a friend’s beautiful land. Her wild roses started out as sticks from the Forest Service and have grown into a massive living fence next to her chicken coop. The chickens and an artesian well feed the wild roses all year, and their fruit (the rose hip) is more aromatically potent and flavorful than any other I’ve foraged in the San Luis Valley.  We pick the rose hips by hand when they are bright red and plump. Many are left on the bush for the birds and my daughter also eats a bounty. This cream is made from that harvest, and once it's gone, it is gone until next year.

Rose hips are the fruit of the wild rose, prized across cultures and centuries as a traditional skin plant. They are rich in polyphenols, plant pigments, and antioxidant compounds that protect skin from environmental stress and support a natural glow. Combined with our grass-fed tallow and organic jojoba oil, this is one of the most nourishing creams we make, and one of the most fleeting.

100% recyclable/reusable 2 & 4 oz. glass jars. Shelf-stable up to 12 months.

Tallow Benefits:

Tallow is uniquely compatible with human skin because of its rich fatty acid profile, which closely resembles the structure of our own sebum. It contains a harmonious blend of saturated and monounsaturated fats—including stearic, oleic, palmitic, and palmitoleic acids—that help:

strengthen the skin barrier

✨ seal in moisture

✨ support repair without clogging pores.

We proudly and gently render all of our tallow from grass-fed cows and bison raised on regenerative pasture by friends in our community. It's slow skincare at its most elemental—nourishment rooted in relationship with the land.

Why Rose Hips?

Rose hips are the fruit of the rose plant, packed with vitamin C, beta-carotene, and skin-revitalizing compounds. They help brighten dull skin, fade scars, and promote even tone. Rose hip oil is known to boost collagen production and protect against environmental stress.
